The TDI Helitrox Diver course is an advanced level certification that is specifically designed for experienced divers who are interested in expanding their knowledge of mixed gas helitrox diving. This course provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely plan and execute dives using helitrox, a specialized blend of helium and oxygen. By completing this course, experienced divers can take their skills to the next level and gain access to new and exciting diving environments that would otherwise be inaccessible with traditional scuba diving techniques.
Learn Sidemount Diving in Malta
The TDI Helitrox Diver Course is aimed at divers who want to learn how to safely plan and execute staged decompression dives to a maximum depth of 45 metres/150 feet using helitrox. In this course, students will be introduced to the most common equipment requirements, gear set-up, and decompression techniques. They will also be allowed to use enriched air nitrox and helium mixes with a maximum helium content of 35%, as well as up to 100% oxygen for decompression diving.
The TDI Helitrox Diver Course is suitable for certified Advanced Divers or Intro to Tech Divers who are looking to expand their knowledge of decompression theory and diving techniques using helitrox. It is also ideal for those who want to extend their bottom time or move forward with technical diving education. The course can be taken as a standalone program or in conjunction with TDI Advanced Nitrox, depending on the discretion of the instructor.
To enroll in the TDI Helitrox Diver course, participants must meet certain prerequisites. They must be at least 18 years old and hold a minimum certification of SDI Advanced Diver (with Deep specialty) or TDI Intro to Tech Diver, or equivalent. In addition, they must also be certified as a TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver, unless they are taking the course concurrently. Finally, students must provide proof of at least 50 logged dives to be eligible for the program.

Prior to joining us in Gozo, Malta for your course, you are required to finish the online study component of the course.
INWater Skills
The inwater skills dives are completed in sheltered areas to allow you to build skills introduced by your Toby in small steps.
Open Water dives
Once you can repeat the skills in a relaxed way, Toby will take you diving and complete the certifiying dives of the course!
TDI Helitrox Diver Course in Malta & Gozo
During the TDI Helitrox Diver Course, you can expect to learn various techniques and theories related to decompression diving. The course covers decompression dive planning, including gas requirements, oxygen, nitrogen, and helium limitations, and decompression gas choices. You will also learn about the effects of helium on narcosis, respiration, insulation, and counter diffusion, and the risks of HPNS.
Additionally, the course covers equipment selection, pre-dive checks and drills, stress analysis, and mitigation, following a decompression schedule, gas switching, team awareness, and communication, SMB/lift bag deployment, proper trim, buoyancy, and propulsion techniques. You will also learn about emergency procedures such as equipment failures, catastrophic gas loss, omitted decompression, and navigational errors.
After completing the course, you will be able to conduct decompression diving activities without direct supervision utilizing helium and/or nitrox mixtures. The diving activities should approximate those of training, and the areas and environmental conditions should also be similar to those of the training. The breathing mixtures should not contain more than 35% helium or less than 21% oxygen. Completing this course will also qualify you to enroll in other technical diving courses such as TDI Extended Range, TDI Advanced Wreck, and TDI Trimix.
