The TDI Air Diluent Deco Procedures course teaches you to dive reabreathers keeping a constant partial pressure of oxygen & optimising your breathing gas & maximising gas supply.
Whether you are an open circuit technical diver seeking to transition to the silent side or a TDI Air Diluent Diver aiming to advance to the next level, TDI's Air Diluent Deco Procedures Rebreather Course is the ideal next step. With the latest technology in CCRs, you can optimize your breathing gas for any depth and maximize your gas supply by maintaining a constant partial pressure of oxygen making it the ultimate tool for technical divers.
The TDI Air Diluent Deco Procedures Diver course is designed for open circuit technical divers or entry-level CCR divers who aim to leverage CCR technology to extend their depth limits and bottom times.
To enroll in the course, the student must be at least 18 years old and able to provide proof of 50 logged dives. Additionally, they must have TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and Deco Procedures Diver certification or an equivalent certification recognized by TDI. If the student's rebreather is a TDI approved sidemount rebreather, they must also hold TDI Sidemount Diver certification or an equivalent certification and provide proof of 10 logged sidemount dives.
During the TDI CCR Air Diluent Decompression Diver course, you will learn about a variety of topics in-depth, including the history and evolution of rebreathers, the pros and cons of Open Circuit (OC), closed circuit, and Semi-closed Circuit Rebreather (SCR) systems, the practical mechanics of the system, gas physiology, proper scrubber packing, electronic or manual systems design and maintenance, dive tables, dive computers, dive planning, emergency procedures, dive checklists, and predive checks.
ONLINE LEARNING
Prior to joining us in Gozo, Malta for your course, you are required to finish the online study component of the course.
INWater Skills
The inwater skills dives are completed in sheltered areas to allow you to build skills introduced by your Toby in small steps.
Open Water dives
Once you can repeat the skills in a relaxed way, Toby will take you diving and complete the certifiying dives of the course!
The TDI Air Diluent Deco Procedures Diver course requires students to demonstrate several skills, including completing all open water dives between 9 metres/30 feet to 40 metres/130 feet, conducting safety stops for a minimum of 3 minutes at 6 metres/20 feet, and performing pre-dive checks utilising the TDI pre-dive checklist or manufacturers required pre-dive checklist. Students must also complete all dives within appropriate constant PO2 decompression tables and demonstrate the correct pre-dive planning procedures.
Additionally, students must be able to replace batteries, maintain the unit, and execute the ascent procedures for an incapacitated CCR diver, among other skills. The course also includes demonstrating appropriate reactions to various emergency situations such as gas shutdowns, broken hoses, and simulated free-flowing deco regulator. Finally, students must demonstrate their ability to use an oxygen rebreather mode at less than 6 metre/20 foot stop.
After successfully completing the TDI CCR Air Diluent Decompression Diver course, graduates are permitted to engage in decompression diving activities using the specific CCR they received training for, without direct supervision from a TDI Instructor, provided that certain limits are adhered to. These limits include: ensuring that the diving activities, areas, and environmental conditions are similar to those experienced during training, and that the maximum depth does not exceed 40 metres/130 feet while using air diluent.

Before working with Toby, I'd never dived. Now I confidently dive 40m wreck on nitrox. I owe that entirely to his teaching, encouragement and (in no small measure) his patience. Both in and out of the water, his instruction and professionalism dispelled any anxieties I had and ensured I felt safe throughout.
